The Ultimate Pole Dance Competition
On October 1st 2009, six of America’s most skillful and sensual pole dancers performed amazing and athletic dance skills at the Pole Superstar Competition at NYC’s Highline Ballroom.Competing for $10,000 cash and more, the dancers flipped, climbed and twirled in front of New York City’s glitterati including celebrities and VIP guests. Pole Superstar’s judges were Cris Judd (choreographer), Diane Passage (pole dancer & Pole Superstar creator), and Jason Patric (actor, Entourage, My Sister’s Keeper). The judges were responsible for choosing the finalists prior to the show, while the audience selected the Pole Superstar winner at the live competition by text message voting during the intermission.
Unlike most pole dance competitions, the six finalists were given creative freedom to bring their personalities to the stage. The dancers exhibited their unique styles through music, signature pole dance tricks and props.
The competition received overwhelming press attention, including mentions on Regis and Kelly, TMZ, and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Pole Superstar was watched in more than 22 countries, thanks to NiFTy’s innovative live webcast on www.polesuperstar.com.
The 2009 Pole Superstar dance competition benefitted a new organization called S.P.I.N. (Single Parents In Need) and NYC’s Single Parent Resource Center.
Since the first competition, we recognize the increasing interest in pole dancing as a sport, fitness activity and art form, worldwide. We also provide pole performers for high-profile events, most recently a party for Inked magazine, a traffic-stopping window display for the Giuseppe Zanotti boutique on Fashion’s Night Out, and more. Pole Superstar also produces pole dance shows including Pole Superstar at the Imperial NYC on January 29th, 2010 and February 5th, 2010.
